Weight Gain During Pregnancy

My uncle’s wife disclosed to me that she had gained 65 lbs with her first pregnancy. She claimed that she had no neck and was one big blob. I wonder if pregnant women know this, but, the “baby” weight is really, only 17-20 lbs and most of that includes fluids, extra blood, the baby and the placenta. The rest is just fat that the mother has to lose on her own. There is no excuse to gain that kind of weight. I am doing all that I can to not gain anything. In fact, I’m losing weight. I can just hear all of my clinical social work friends, stressing out, wondering aloud whether I have an eating disorder. I don’t think that I do. I just can’t allow my ass get as fat as my fellow pregnant mothers at the Ob/Gyn office. I am afraid, truly afraid of getting that big.
